Cheers to Volunteers 2009 Awards

 National Volunteer Week, April 19-26

Volunteer Halton has partnered with the "Volunteer and Feel the Magic" campaign (an initiative of Halton Region) to bring you the 2009 edition of "Cheers to Volunteers" to celebrate National Volunteer Week, April 19th - 26th, 2009.

Nominees will be drawn and profiled in their local community newspaper along with a description of the important work your organization does in the community. Featured volunteers will receive a 2009 "Cheers to Volunteers" Award prepared by the students of the Sheridan College Institute of Advanced Technology and Learning to honour their commitment to volunteerism. Featured volunteers may also be interviewed by Cogeco Community Television with spots being aired throughout National Volunteer Week.

The "Cheers to Volunteers" initiative provides you with an opportunity to recognize the outstanding contributions of volunteers within your organization. You may nominate as many volunteers as you wish by completing the nomination form and returning it no later than Tuesday, March 31, 2009Click here to fill up the form.

Donner Awards 2009

The Donner Awards Program is Canada's largest and most prestigious non-profit recognition program. A total of $70,000 is available to be won, with a total of eleven awards granted.

The Donner Awards Program is accepting applications for the 2009 Donner Canadian Foundation Awards for Excellence in the Delivery of Social Services until Thursday, May 28, 2009.

Thérèse Casgrain Volunteer Award

The Thérèse Casgrain  Volunteer Award is presented annually to two exceptional volunteers.
* One Youth Participation award (from the age of 18 to 30)
* One Lifelong Commitment award (from the age of 31 and over)

Recipients are honoured at an award dinner and ceremony in Ottawa planned to coincide with International Volunteer Day (December 5)
Nomination Deadline: June 19, 2009. Late entries will be put toward the following year's award.

The Volunteer Service awards are given to people who volunteer their time to a single organization for several years. Nominations are usually accepted between November and January 25 of each year. The Ontario Volunteer Service Awards - in recognition of continuous years of service with a community organization.

The June Callwood Outstanding Achievement Award for Voluntarism in Ontario -awarded for superlative volunteer work undertaken by individuals, groups or businesses

The Ontario Medal for Young Volunteers - presented to young volunteers between the ages of 15 and 24.
